Who we are

The International Visitors Leadership Program Alumni Association is the umbrella body of participants of the IVLP Exchange Program of the United State’Department of States. The essence of the organization is to impact our various communities in direct ways. To give back at both grassroots and state levels from the depth of exposure, opportunities and from the impact the United States government has bestowed on us through the visitor leadership program.

In the last 4 years, the IVLP ALumni, with support from the United States Consulate in Lagos has engaged in mentoring students in public schools (ages 13-19) on leadership, social skills and career development. The mentoring program exposes the students to a broader knowledge which expands their scope and view and also positively influence their decision making process as they move into adulthood. Between 2018 and 2023 we have graduated over 2500 students who have successfully completed the mentorship program in about 15 schools in Lagos and Ekiti States.

The IVLP Alumni has also worked extensively with non governmental organizations, local governmnets and communities to implemented projects on environmental sanitation and waste management in markets, as well as re-cycling and up-cycling methods, packaging and business opportunites attached to it. With the support of the U.S Consulate, we have also organized sensitization programs in different local government against rape, child molestation and domestic violence. We have also engaged in media tour to showcase all our impact projects.

Our activites are regularly featured in both electronic and print media due to our established partnerships with various media houses. Our program implementation cuts across every sector from Education/mentorship, Teachers training, mental health and wellness advocacy, general well being, gender based violence and child molestation, community outreach, partnerships with local government for various grassroots programs etc.

The IVLP Alumni works with volunteers who are largely members of the association and other exchange programs as well as leverage on partnerships.

Our Belief

In the IVLP family, we believe that grassroots development is crucial to our development as a nation and we are passionate about making continous and positive impact in our immediate communities one at a time.
